MAT AND REFORMER CLASSES

An Introduction To Louise

Hi, I’m Louise Faulkner and welcome to my site. I have been teaching  Mat Pilates since 2016 and then in 2019 I trained and qualified to teach Reformer Pilates.  I now teach Mat, Reformer and children’s Pilates in school.

Pilates became my release after suffering a series of back problems.  A Kyphotic and Lordotic spine although not severe mean regular movement is essential to maintain a healthy spine.

Following a career in Telecoms I studied Pilates, allowing me the opportunity to share the benefits with others. I then returned to studying, qualifying in Reformer Pilates, allowing me to teach semi-private and private clients.

Pilates is very much a way of life, working your whole body, allowing you greater range of movement, a sense of well-being and release.

Mat & Reformer

Both Mat and Reformer Pilates are intense, offering a workout for the body and mind, often incorporating co-ordination & balance offering a deeper awareness of your body. Modifications are always offered, it is important to always work with your body and encourage the movement.

Mat pilates uses your own body weight to strengthen and tone your body. Reformer uses a pilates reformer to work against resistance, encouraging strength, flexibility and alignment.

”Pilates is complete coordination of body, mind and spirit.”

Where To Find Me

I teach Reformer Pilates at The Pilates Hub Studio in Clitheroe, Lancashire. The studio is fully-equipped with Reformers, ladder barrel, Wunda chair Cadillac and tower. The equipment will help to provide a wider range of movement, whilst also adding a new dimension to the exercises of more experienced clients, who will find their routine enhanced and intensified.

Pilates should be tailored to your personal needs, which is why I ask clients to discuss their ability and the goals they want to achieve.

All new clients are asked to attend a studio induction, allowing me to see how you move while you get comfotable with the equipment in the studio.

What is Pilates?

Developed by Joseph Pilates in Germany in the late 1800s, Pilates is an exercise method that creates longer, leaner muscles, using specialist equipment such as the Reformer – a sprung exercise frame. Designed by Joseph Pilates the reformer frame works abs, lower back, hips and glutes and is also focused on alignment and accurate muscle engagement. This leads to improved posture, better balance and core stability.

Pilates was introduced to the UK in 1970 and has since become a worldwide phenomenon with over 12 million people engaging in this massively successful regime that is known for its positive effects on physical wellbeing.

"I have been doing a weekly Reformer Pilates class for over a year now with Louise and I have to say I have noticed an improvement in my posture and muscle movement. Not only is it physically beneficial, it's probably one of the only hours in the week I switch off, slow down, breathe and the hour flies. I wouldn't dream of losing it from my weekly schedule."
